California - Right back where I started from!

We had a fabulous trip to California to see my family. I was able to introduce Arfan to the rest of my family and we made our little baby's presence known to them! They didn't say anything about my 'roundness' but I'm sure they had some sort of an idea, but they didn't say anything until I told them! We had such a fantastic time. Gorgeous weather and it was soooo nice to see my family. We toured the wine country and briefly checked out San Francisco. I'm going to miss my family so much!

Flutters and Butterflies

My sweet little child is starting to kick me! Arfan and I took a day road trip to Niagara Falls, Canada. I've been living here for over a year already and hadn't been to the falls since I was a teen. On the road trip up, as usual, Arfan had the music up a bit. Our sweet little baby started kicking me! Not with a lot of power, but I could very well feel soft movement. It was the most glorious feeling in the world. I can't wait to be a mom!

Our Fur Family

I love these little guys so much. Of course, we had the two kitties first. Tux and Angel. Then along came Toby. They are finally starting to warm up to each other. We will see how long this lasts!

Camping to the Adirondack Mountains

Arfan, his brother Solomon, Angela and I took a camping trip to the Adirondack Mountain range. I am about 14 weeks pregnant here but I'm not quite showing yet! It had rained quite a bit, but overall it was nice to get away from life for a little while. Our puppy Toby got to have his first camping experience as well. He is not a fan of the rain at all and knew that inside the tent he would be dry. He sat in front of the tent door pouting to go in - at the time it wasn't raining all the bad out either. Silly dog.

A Whole New World

Such a tiny miracle is growing! We are so proud to be expecting a sweet little baby! Mommy is already looking forward to making up the spare room into the nursery! It so early to tell, but mom is convinced that it's a boy. But both of us just want a healthy and happy baby!

So a little bit about our little family!
Arfan and I met while I was on active duty in the Army. He was activated from his reserve unit and as fate would have it, we were able to meet and the rest was history. I believe that I had a crush from the very beginning. I never really thought it would turn into anything, but I couldn't be happier that it did!

After about a year of dating, Arfan was done with his activation and was moving back to his hometown in Buffalo, New York. I was finished with my active duty service time, and wasn't about to give up on love. Instead of moving back home, I made the choice to create a new place to call home and be stay with Arfan.

Arfan is a registered nurse by profession and I'm currently a practical nurse. I'm working on finishing up my RN degree and Arfan is looking to go into graduate school. I think our careers in the nursing field give us some understanding about each other. I think that anyone can be a nurse, but it takes a special person to be a great nurse. I think that's what attracted me to Arfan in the first place. He doesn't take crap from anyone like I do, but he is caring and compassionate at the same time.

We are so excited to be expecting our little miracle!

& Toby makes 5

I got the call from Arfan today. I was in the middle of classes and he asked when I had a break. This never, and I mean never happens. So interested I naturally asked what was up. I found myself shortly leaving class and driving down to the SPCA. After my arrival, it wasn't long before I found my sweetie, and the cutest little puppy sitting on the bench next to him. I couldn't say no to that cute little face if you paid me. He was so sweet, with chocolate brown fur and a little black nose and floppy ears. He is are dog from right then and we gave him the name Toblerone - Toby for short. He is perfect!

New Years Eve

On the train heading to NYC for the 'ball drop'
Happy New Year 2009! Arfan and I attempted to get our Times Square New Years Eve experience. We took the train up to the city on New Years Eve mid-day expecting the Times Square area to be very crowded. At 4pm, it was nothing out of the ordinary. We were very novice NYE spectators so we didn't know really what to expect. We decided we had a bit of time to kill before we had to be where we needed to be to see anything, so we went and grabbed an early dinner nearby. By the time we got done with our meal, the streets were very crowded and already, by 530pm, they were blocking off the streets. We couldn't even get down the next block to where the ball was going to drop. Oh, yeah, and the weather was frigid. I mean really freaking cold. We were wearing our warmest coats and hats, nothing could kill off that bone chilling freeze. Our New Years Eve experience was quickly coming to an end. We were losing patience with the cold weather and not being able to see anything anyways, well, it was time to go home. We took the train back to Jersey, got home and jumped into our PJs, and finally started to defrost. Pretty tired from the days affairs, we were both passed out by 11pm and missed the ball drop even on t.v. Oh, well. Happy New Year!
